Role Purpose

As part of the Sudlows Critical Infrastructures Projects Team, you will work within the Critical Infrastructures business, developing all aspects of electrical services for data centre design and build projects, typically up to the value of £2M.

Working with the latest data centre technologies, you will work on award winning projects as part of a forward-thinking Engineering Team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Production of data centre and comms rooms electrical design information for critical environments.
  • Specification of electrical engineering services.
  • Production of electrical schematics and layout drawings for tender & construction (AutoCAD experience would be beneficial but not essential).
  • Electrical design calculations (Amtech preferable).
  • Lighting design using Relux/Dialux – beneficial but not essential.
  • Condition surveys and writing engineering reports.
  • Dealing with engineering and project technical related issues.
  • Attending and undertaking site surveys.
  • Develop proposals for submission to the customer.
  • Attending customer design meetings and workshops to discuss proposal and design.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors and provide all associated drawing information required for work package quotations.
  • Work with the Procurement Team as required to allow necessary equipment to be procured.
  • Review of purchase orders with respect to technical design details.
  • Communicate with Site Managers and Site Engineers when required and provide information for management of installation and commissioning activities.
  • Experience with data centre installations, UPS and generator systems is preferable but not essential.

 

Personal Specification

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or in a related field.
  • Willing to travel and have full working rights in the UK.
  • Minimum qualification of HNC in electrical or building services engineering. City and Guilds 2396 Design and Verification will also be considered.
  • Engineering design experience gained in building projects and data centres would be an advantage.
  • Proactive individual with good communication skills.
  • Experience with Amtech design software – preferable but not essential.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Revit – preferable but not essential.
  • Competent in Microsoft Packages including Word, Outlook, Project and Excel.
  • Able to work within a design team environment, prioritise tasks and manage time to meet deliverable deadlines.
  • Experience with data centre installations preferable but not essential.
